This time of year, we are all celebrating our memory of the birth of Jesus Christ.
We’re not celebrating that He was born on December 25th, but we are celebrating His birth and remembering what He meant to each one of us on December 25th.
Not trying to be offensive to anyone, but it was actually Jesus’ death on the cross that should mean the very most to each one of us.
The cross, believe it or not, conquered more than just sin; and sin is a major grievance in every human being’s life that we, ALL mankind, have battled over.
Colossians 2
vs13 ‘…And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses…’
vs14 ‘…blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross…’
vs15 ‘…and having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it…’ AKJV
Vs15 is the part where we are told that Jesus conquered more than sin at the cross, Jesus defeated any demons that try and do battle with us throughout our lifetime.
In our busy lives that we live in today, we have not taken the time to keep Jesus in our thoughts throughout our days. We are too easily swayed into thinking the news of the day, or whatever might happen in the political arena around our country, or a television series that plays daily during our weekly evenings; we, in our humanness, we have forgot to keep Jesus in front and in focus in everything that we do.
I read a post this morning where the writer pointed to this verse (vs15) and wanted to remind us all that demons can not harm us today … and it was all because of Jesus’ cross.
Now many are taught how demons make us do the wrong things today in our lives. False, wrong and incorrect teachings might teach us that. We keep taking our eyes of Jesus and we focus on things we’ve been taught to be afraid of … we don’t need to be afraid of anything as long as we keep our eyes on Him.
Here are five (5) verses found in the Bible that help us keep our eyes fixed onto Jesus Christ.
Deuteronomy 31:6 ‘…Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee…’ AKJV
Proverbs 3
vs5 ‘…Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding…’
vs6 ‘…In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths…’ AKJV
Matthew 11
vs28 ‘…Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest…’
vs29 ‘…Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls…’ AKJV
John 14:3 ‘…And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also…’ AKJV
1John 1:9 ‘…If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness…’ AKJV
We are told in many places in the Word we are to keep our eyes on Jesus … but to often, us humans are misled into looking in the wrong direction for what will save us.
Just for a moment, look around and see what is going on in this world that we live in, everything is rush, rush, rush.
Everything has to be NOW.
1 hour photo printing, overnight or 1 day delivery service, stores that are opened 24 hours a day for our convenience, but our focus is kept away from Jesus.
For years, I’ve had people tell me they don’t have time to read their Bibles, and I tell them about the audio Bible where the Bible is read to you as you go through your life every day.
God gave us the Word so we could have it whenever we needed it we didn’t have to wait for the public reading at the synagogue, and in some of the man-made churches today, they don’t even open a Bible and read from them, they instead have their own messages printed out and read aloud.
Spend your day in His Word and fill yourself with the LOVE that He has waiting for each one of us.
Trust the words that He has given us and always keep Him up front and with you at ALL times.
Enjoy this holiday season not for a little old man in a red suit that flies through the air with flying reindeer, but instead remember what Jesus has done for us by giving up His life so that we could live Eternity in heaven in His presence.
I love ALL of y’all.
