Ephesians 2:8 ‘…For by GRACE you have been SAVED through FAITH; and this is not of yourselves, it is a GIFT of God…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
Let’s together, open the Word of God this morning, and study what we have been given. Allow me to help you in your study and search the Bible what God has intended for us to hear.
The verses we are going to study tonight:
Matthew 28:19; John 14:16; Matthew 19:28; Acts 1:26, 2:1, 3:25.
I have tried justifying the teachings that took place in the 1st century, but I have always ended back in the same precarious spot.
Let’s begin this study with the understanding of looking to the Jewish people.
This is where it all started. We have got to set some walls so we can keep ourselves contained in what we are trying to study.
Back in the times of Jesus’s early ministry, there were these Orthodox Jewish believers in the Jewish religion, there were the Jews that Jesus was trying to convert and there were the Gentiles.
Jesus was enticing Jewish believers into believing in more than what the Orthodox religion wanted to allow.
After Jesus was crucified by these Orthodox Jews, they thought everything was finished and everything would return the way it was, only they shortly realized that Jesus had more of an influence than what they had originally thought.
After His Resurrection, Jesus met the eleven and spoke to them about ‘the Great Commission.’
Matthew 28:19
‘…Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)
‘…Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
‘…Go, then, to all peoples everywhere and make them my disciples: baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit…’ GNT (Good News Translation)
‘…So, you must go to people in every country of the world. Teach them how to become my disciples. Baptize them by the authority of God the Father, his Son and the Holy Spirit…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)
Jesus explained that God would send a ‘Helper’ to assist them in their life and in ours.
John 14:16
‘…And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)
‘…I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, so that He may be with you forever…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
‘…I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, who will stay with you forever…’ GNT (Good News Translation)
‘… I will ask the Father to help you with this. He will send another Helper to be with you. That Helper will stay with you forever…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)
Jesus also promised the original ‘twelve’ apostles that they, one day, would sit on thrones besides Jesus.
Matthew 19:28
‘…And Jesus said unto them, verily I say unto you, that ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)
‘…And Jesus said to them, truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
‘…Jesus said to them, you can be sure that when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne in the New Age, then you twelve followers of mine will also sit on thrones, to rule the twelve tribes of Israel…’ GNT (Good News Translation)
‘…Jesus said to his disciples, I tell you this: one day God will cause all things to become new. I, the Son of Man, will sit on my great throne as King and I will rule that new world. You who are my disciples will also sit like kings on thrones. You will judge the people of the 12 tribes of Israel…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)
This could also be the reason why there was such an emphasis put on a ‘new’ twelfth apostle, to replace Judas Iscariot after he betrayed Jesus and hung himself. If there wasn’t twelve (12) when Jesus returned, He may just not let any one of the original apostles sit on a throne.
Acts 1:26
‘…And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)
‘…And they drew lots for them, and the lot fell to Matthias; and he was added to the eleven apostles…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
‘…Then they drew lots to choose between the two men, and the one chosen was Matthias, who was added to the group of eleven apostles…’ GNT (Good News Translation)
‘…Then the group used lots to choose the name of one man. It happened that they chose Matthias. So, Matthias now became the 12th apostle, together with the other 11 men…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)
So, the eleven remaining apostles chose Mathias to replace Judas. Pentecost came and there were twelve (12) apostles present in one place.
Acts 2:1
‘…And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)
‘…When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
‘…When the day of Pentecost came, all the believers were gathered together in one place…’ GNT (Good News Translation)
‘…Then the day of the Pentecost festival arrived. All the believers were meeting together in one place…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)
Fifty days after the Resurrection of Jesus from the tomb, Pentecost came.
After Pentecost, Peter still taught only to the Jews. To the original apostle, the Jews that migrated from the Orthodox religion is who they were focused on.
Acts 3:25
‘…Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, and in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)
‘…It is you who are the sons of the prophets and of the covenant which God ordained with your fathers, saying to Abraham, And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)
‘…The promises of God through his prophets are for you, and you share in the covenant which God made with your ancestors. As he said to Abraham, Through your descendants I will bless all the people on earth…’ GNT (Good News Translation)
‘…You are the people who receive that message from God today. The promise that God made to bless our ancestors is the same promise that he makes to you. God said to our ancestor Abraham, through your descendants, I will bless all the people on the earth…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)
There was no ‘son of a prophet’ that was anything other than Jewish. No promises had ever been made to a Gentile.
Eventually one day, someone really needs to clean this mess up. Now I am positive, on that day when Jesus calls us up into the clouds to be with Him forever, I am sure on that day, things will clear up for many.
Unfortunately, those that remain will not see much.
The beginning of the seven (7) year Tribulation will begin as soon as Jesus’ church, leaves this earth.
The ‘church age’ that we have been living in for almost 2000 years will be over.
Keep your Bibles open and study the words that we have been given.
These man-made pastors, churches and denominations will all be coming to a swift end.
Our future is with Jesus, but it is not the Jesus you have been taught to believe in that you will meet.
Open your own Bible and read for yourself.
I love all of y’all.
Jesus, I pray that those ears and eyes, either listening or seeing this message today would be opened to the very fullest and allow Your love to come inside their lives and comfort them. Teach us Jesus. Protect us. We love You. Amen
