Genesis – part6

Ephesians 2:8-9 ‘…For it is by God’s grace that you have been saved through faith. It is not the result of your own efforts, but God’s GIFT, so that no one can boast about it…’ GNT (Good News Translation)

Don’t let me or my writings influence or scare you in any way, instead, allow me to be used as a vessel to open the Word, just a little bit, and hopefully, together we are going to read and study His Word, and let God teach us what He wants us to hear.

Since the beginning of this study, our vision has been that we are ONLY going to follow what is found in the Holy Bible, that pertains to us, and we realize that it’s ONLY from our own effort that we put into this study, that we’re going to take anything away for our own use.

The verses we are going to study tonight:

Genesis 22:2, :7, 17:4-6, 32:28; Deuteronomy 18:15-18; 2 Kings 16:6; Acts 11:26; 1 Chronicles 2:1-2; Genesis 42:1-2.

So, we ended our lesson yesterday, in Genesis 22 where God told Abraham to use his son, his ONLY son, the son that he had waited so long for, as a sacrifice and offer him up to God.

Genesis 22:2 ‘…God said, take your son and go to the land of Moriah. Take your only son Isaac, whom you love. You must offer him to me there as a burnt offering. I will show you the mountain where you must do this…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

What must’ve gone through the mind of Abraham?

Just think of something that is the most valuable thing in your life and then one day, how would you feel if you were asked to put it up for sacrifice … or in todays situation, give it away. How difficult would that be for you?

Abraham had to have a difficult time.

Genesis 22:7 ‘…Isaac spoke to his father, Abraham. He said, Father? Abraham replied Yes, my son, what is it? Isaac replied, I see that the fire and the wood are here. But where is the lamb so that we can make the burnt offering…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

Once again, can you just imagine?

What would have been going through the mind of Abraham?

We should all know the conclusion of the story between Abraham and Issac … if you do not, please take the time to finish chapter 22.

In Genesis 23, Abraham’s wife, Sarah dies. Once again, another low point in Abraham’s life. It is just one more opportunity for Abraham to need and want God.

This is the lesson that we should be seeing in this study of Father Abraham. We should see all of the opportunities to seek God for comfort, for His answers in our struggles.

This has all been derived by the FAITH that Abraham had in God. This is the lesson that we are to walk away with.

In Genesis 24, Issac, Abraham’s son is married to Rebekah. And then in Genesis 25, we are told that Abraham dies.

In chapter 11 Abraham is born and in chapter 25, he dies, that’s fifteen chapters in Genesis. More than half of the book that we have already studied.

These fifteen chapters MUST be important to us. I think we will finish these remaining twenty-five chapters, and we probably will end up back here searching for this FAITH that is so important to us today in the 21st century.

So, last night while I was in bed, ‘sleeping,’ I had this thought that I’m going to look at right now for the first time with y’all …

…Abraham was the father of three different religious lines, but the thing is, he didn’t practice any one of those religions. Let’s look.

Abraham was the father of the Jewish religion, the Christian religion and the Muslim religion.

Genesis 17

vs4 ‘…As for me, this is my covenant that I have made with you. You will become the ancestor of many nations of people…’

vs5 ‘…Your name will not be Abram anymore. Instead, your name will be Abraham, because I will cause you to become the ancestor of many nations…’

vs6 ‘…I will give you many descendants. These will make many nations of people. Some of your descendants will become kings …’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

Jacob was renamed to ‘Israel,’ by God in Genesis 32:28 ‘…Then the man said, your name will not be Jacob any longer. Your name will now be Israel. That is because you have fought with God, and you have fought with men. And you have won…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

The term ‘Muslim’ does not show up until Deuteronomy 18:15-18.

vs15 ‘…One day, the Lord your God will send to you a prophet like me. He will come from among your own people. You must listen to him…’

vs16 ‘…Remember what happened when you all met together at Sinai Mountain. You said to the Lord your God, please do not let us hear your voice again. Do not let us see this great fire again. If we do, we will die…’

vs17 ‘…Then the Lord said to me, the people have said the right thing…’

vs18 ‘…I will send them a prophet who will be like you. He will be an Israelite. I will tell him what to say. Then he will tell the people everything that I command him to say…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

Jews were not mentioned in the Bible until 2 Kings 16:6 ‘…At the same time, King Rezin got Elath town back for Syria. He chased out the people of Judah who were living there. People from Edom then moved into Elath, and they are still living there…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

The term ‘Christian; does not show up until Acts 11:26 ‘…When Barnabas found him, he brought him back to Antioch. For one whole year, Barnabas and Saul met together with the group of believers there. They taught very many of them about Jesus. Antioch was the first place where the believers were called Christians…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

Abraham believed God; he believed what he was told.

This is our largest hurdle that all of us in the 21st century need to be able to leap over for us to attain life. We MUST believe what God is telling us.

Attacking us has always been Satan, since the garden keeping us away from God.

God is right there in front of us, at the moment that we ask for His help, and we look away from Satans’ evil trap, God will pick us up and out of harms way, we ONLY have to believe.

Eve could have had that same assistance in the garden if she would have asked for God’s help, but she didn’t, and we all should know the future of Eve.

Getting back into Genesis, Abraham had just died, and we learn of his descendants. Issac and his twin sons, Jacob and Esau.

In chapter 29 we read of Jacob’s encounter with Laban, Leah’s and Rachael’s father when he lied and tricked Jacob into marrying both of his daughters.

In 1 Chronicles 2, we can see the twelve sons of Israel (Jacob).

vs1 ‘…These are the sons of Israel; Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun…’

vs2 ‘…Dan, Joseph, and Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

We read of the story between Jacob’s sons. Joseph, the 2nd youngest son of Jacob, was hated by his older brothers.

To me, this is the only definitive definition of the word ‘Omnipotence.’ I have always found this one story of our Omnipotent God, to be the most inspirational.

God knew the future before it happened. He knew that Jacob’s family was going to need a connection with Egypt in the very near future because of the famine that was about to occur throughout the land.

It turned out that Joseph’s older brothers (ten of them), were jealous of him. One day, the brother captured and sold Joseph as a slave to a traveling caravan, heading towards Egypt.

Joseph, imprisoned at the time, trusted in God and told the king a revelation to a dream that was given to Joseph by God (Genesis 41).

The revelation turned out to be a ‘heads up’ of a famine that was about to hit the nearby farmers of the land.

The king was so impressed, Joseph was made the number two man in Egypt for the king.

Genesis 42

vs1 ‘…Jacob heard that there was food in Egypt. So, he said to his sons, there is no food here, so why are you just sitting there…’

vs2 ‘…I have heard that there is food in Egypt. Go there and buy some for us. Then we may continue to live and not die…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

The brothers traveled to Egypt to get food for their family, and they had to deal through Joseph to get any food.

The story is one of the more amazing and truly unbelievable stories found in the Bible.

Jacob and all of his son’s, all of their possessions moved to Egypt to live on land that was given to them by the king.

This entire story is how God’s people got into Egypt and one day, would have been freed by Moses while escaping through the Red Sea by the great Exodus.

This entire 1st book, found in the Bible, is on nothing other than FAITH in God and it also show what occurs from the UNBELIEF in what God can do.

This is what we in the 21st century should study every day. This is what our churches should be teaching about this lost world that we live in. Instead, our man-made churches are lying to the people telling them they need to tithe 10 percent of their income to the church they are attending. But our churches would rather lie than tell the simple truth to their congregations.

And even more scary is there are so many of these members that never even touch a Bible for themselves to find out the truth that is right in front of their eyes. All they have to do is open the covers of the book and read it for themselves.

It has been a priority of mine to get people into the Word for themselves so they can find out the truth. It’s difficult because most people won’t believe something unless their pastor or their denomination that they attend make the announcement.

Keep your Bibles open and read the Words God has given to us to allow us to learn and hear the real truth.

Once you yourself have found the truth, open your mouth and shout to those you love and share what you’ve been taught so that others can find out before it is too late.

I love every one of y’all. Please open your Bibles up for yourselves and for those you love.

One day, Jesus Himself is going to teach each one of us all that the word ‘LOVE’ really means.

I pray and hope that all of us will one day hear and understand the message that we’re being told.

Keep studying His Word. Allow yourself to learn more than you ever thought possible.

Jesus, I pray that those ears and eyes, either listening or seeing this message today would be opened to the very fullest and allow Your love to come inside their lives and comfort them. Teach us Jesus. Protect us. We love You. Amen
