Ephesians 2:8 ‘…For by GRACE you have been SAVED through FAITH; and this is not of yourselves, it is a GIFT of God…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

Let’s together, open the Word of God this morning, and study what we have been given. Allow me to help you in your study and search the Bible what God has intended for us to hear.

The verses we are going to study tonight:

So, this morning I have been walking around, asking myself this question, why is it that us here in America, we don’t read the Bible in this generation like they did generations before us.

I remember, my

grandmother, my dad’s mom, she’d sit in her chair where she’d keep her crocheting stuff, but right there next to her, she always had her Bible setting right there.

Why did that habit ever stop?

I grew up in a catholic home, my mom’s parents were catholic, her grandparents, my great-grandparents, were catholic, I don’t remember a generation in my mom’s family tree, that didn’t attend a catholic school and church.

Since I have gotten older, and I’ve read the Bible myself, over the years, there’s a lot of stuff taught in the catholic religion that’s not in the Bible.

Without getting into a major debate, let me just touch on a few things.

The number one thing is tithing. This is not mentioned in the Bible where a household was supposed to tithe 10% of their income to the church, it’s not in the Bible.

Here is a short passage taken from the Bible, in three different translations.

Genesis 14

AKJV

vs18 ‘…And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God…’

vs19 ‘…And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth…’

vs20 ‘…and blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all …’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)

NASB

vs18 ‘…And Melchizedek the king of Salem brought out bread and wine; now he was a priest of God Most High…’

vs19 ‘…And he blessed him and said, blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth…’

vs20 ‘…and blessed be God Most High,
Who has handed over your enemies to you. And he gave him a tenth of everything…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

EASY

vs18 ‘…Melchizedek was the king of Salem, and he was a priest of the Most High God. He brought out bread and wine for Abram…’

vs19 ‘…He blessed Abram. He said, I pray that the Most High God who made heaven and earth will bless Abram…’

vs20 ‘…Praise the Most High God! He has given you power over your enemies. After that, Abram gave Melchizedek a tenth part of everything…’ EASY (Easy English Bible)

Melchizedek told Abram to give one-tenth of what he had recovered from the spoils of war to God for allowing him to win the battle, but nowhere are we told to give 10-percent of our income to a church.

This is nothing more than a fabrication by mankind.

How many people walked out of a church never to return again or to ever open up the covers of a Bible again, because of this man-made lie?

In the catholic religion, communion is celebrated every mass. Communion is the breaking of bread and sharing it with the congregation.

Jesus told those at the last supper meal, the following.

Luke 22:19 ‘…And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, this is My body, which is being given for you; do this in remembrance of Me…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

This was taken place at a Jewish Passover meal. This was never meant for anyone other than a Jew.

This practice is celebrated by many different denominations here in America.

The fact is, wherever it is performed today, it was still originally done at a Jewish Passover meal and those present, Jews, were told to do this.

And then the last catholic practice I am going to mention is confession of our sins to a catholic priest.

Where in the Bible is this rite ever done?

I am not, with intentions, solely looking at the catholic church.

I want to portray ALL MAN-MADE religions here in America. ALL of them.

Too often the desires of man are portrayed on Sunday mornings instead of voicing what God wants from us.

Our pastors today will spend hours writing sermons that will be voiced in the church on a Sunday.

Sermons can even be bought online for that preacher that is unable to speak a positive word to his congregation.

Pastors, put your money away, use your time more wisely, just open your Bibles and read to your congregation the Word that God has already given to us.

Have your congregations follow along as you read the Word.

There is nothing, more important to anyone, on a Sunday morning, if it cannot be found in the
Word.

I have had for a while, only one, really big question that I really think deserves to be answered by everyone today…

If Jesus, chose Saul/Paul to be the apostle to teach the Gentiles about God, who thinks they are more qualified to choose someone other than Saul/Paul to teach?

Simple question.

This verse is found in the book of Acts, and it was written by Luke.

Acts 13:9 ‘…But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, stared at him…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

The apostle Paul wrote thirteen epistles, found in the New Testament of the Holy Bible.

Jesus, Himself chose him to be the teacher to the Gentiles, the kings and the children of Israel.

Apparently the remaining eleven apostles and the one, that the apostles chose themselves, to be number twelve (12), apparently all of them were retired in the eyes of God.

Acts 9

vs3 ‘…Now as he was traveling, it happened that he was approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him…’

vs4 ‘…and he fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me…’

vs5 ‘…And he said, who are You, Lord? And He said, I am Jesus whom you are persecuting…’

vs6 ‘…but get up and enter the city, and it will be told to you what you must do…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

Continuing in Acts 9.

Acts 9

vs11 ‘…And the Lord said to him, get up and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for a man from Tarsus named Saul, for he is praying…’

vs12 ‘…and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him, so that he might regain his sight…’

vs13 ‘…But Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard from many people about this man, how much harm he did to Your saints in Jerusalem…’

vs14 ‘…and here he has authority from the chief priests to arrest all who call on Your name…’

vs15 ‘…But the Lord said to him, go, for he is a chosen instrument of Mine, to bear My name before the Gentiles and kings and the sons of Israel…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

In the AKJV, Jesus uses the words ‘Chosen Vessel’ and ‘Gentiles, kings and the children of Israel.’

vs15 ‘…But the Lord said unto him, go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel…’ AKJV (Authorized King James Version)

If Jesus chose Saul/Paul to teach, who then is it that thinks they are greater than Jesus to choose someone different to teach His people?

As I said earlier in today’s lesson, Paul wrote thirteen (13) epistles that are found in the New Testament, why are we not teaching those books, his writings?

Romans 9

vs15 ‘…For He says to Moses, I will have mercy on whomever I have mercy, and I will show compassion to whomever I show compassion…’

vs16 ‘…So then, it does not depend on the person who wants it nor the one who runs, but on God who has mercy…’

vs17 ‘…For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, For this very reason I raised you up, in order to demonstrate My POWER IN, you, and that My name might be proclaimed throughout the earth…’

vs18 ‘…So then He has mercy on whom He desires, and He hardens whom He desires…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

Ephesians 1

vs3 ‘…Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ…’

vs4 ‘…just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love…’

vs5 ‘…He predestined us to adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

ALL BELIEVERS ARE CHOSEN OF GOD.

Titus 1:1 ‘…Paul, a bondservant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

There is a very powerful verse found in the Bible …

Romans 8:31 ‘…What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us…’ NASB (New American Standard Bible)

Choose wisely for yourself and even more importantly, to those you preach to on Sunday mornings, fill their cups with what God desires for them to know, and leave your pride behind.

If you cannot teach what God desires to be taught, maybe you should quit before you find yourself swimming where you don’t want to be.

Students, and we are all students, we should ALL want to know more of what God has to give us, keep your Bibles open and continue studying the Words He has given to us to see.

I love every one of y’all. Keep yourselves safe and always follow the Words that we have been given by God Himself.

Jesus, I pray that those ears and eyes, either listening or seeing this message today would be opened to the very fullest and allow Your love to come inside their lives and comfort them. Teach us Jesus. Protect us. We love You. Amen
