FOLLOW what Jesus CHOSE

Wednesday 040925

Acts 9:5 ‘…But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel…’ AKJV

Ephesians 2:8 ‘…For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God…’ AKJV

Romans 10:9 ‘…that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…’ AKJV

Jesus, be with us this morning as we open Your Word and become a voice that will speak to this world and help get Your Message out so their ears can HEAR Your positive sound. We love You Jesus. There are many people out there that want to FOLLOW You Jesus, but their eyes have been clouded by false prophets and false messages. Allow them Jesus to be able to HEAR the Word You have for them to hear. Thank You Jesus. Amen.

The Bible verses we’re going to use this morning are:

Acts 1:2-3, :9-11, :16; Matthew 19:28; Acts 7:59-60; Romans 11:11; Acts 9:15, 13:9; 2 Peter 3:15-16; 2 Timothy 3:16, 2:15.

The past few days, my wife and I have been two hours west of our house at our daughters house, taking care of three of our grandkids while mom and dad were at the hospital giving birth to Kim’s and my tenth (10th) grandchild.

I’m a little late getting this on Wednesday morning, but I should have it posted before Ten tonight.

I love y’all. Thanks for being patient.

There are days when it is difficult trying to spread the Message that God has given us, knowing the number of people that will not bother to listen to the words that we voice.

It’s just as hard knowing these people will also not open up their Bibles and check for themselves what has been written in the Word.

I struggle with friends and family of my own that I am unable to voice what is written in the Word.

But it is not up to me to change people’s mind, all I can do is voice what is written.

In previous lessons, I hope I have shown that it was Jesus’ blood, His death that made our sins forgiven.

So, the New Testament then, should begin with the Book of Acts.

From chapter 1 through 7 is a visual sight spotlighting the Jewish believer.

Chapter 1 begins with Luke writing how Jesus lived on this earth with us, He picked His apostles and after His crucifixion, He returned back to this earth for forty days living with the Jewish people.

Acts 1

vs2 ‘…until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen…’

vs3 ‘…to whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God..’ AKJV

Jesus was just crucified, He died and was buried, He was resurrected by God the Father and He returned to this earth for forty days and nights to live with those on this earth.

What should have been obvious to everyone, including us today in the 21st century, OUR SINS HAVE BEEN FORGIVEN.

After forty days, Jesus left those on the earth.

Acts 1

vs9 ‘…And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight…’

vs10 ‘…And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel…’

vs11 ‘…which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven…’ AKJV

The book of Acts, written by Luke (the writer of the gospel of Luke), is a very detailed part of biblical history.

Peter (the apostle), addressed his fellow believers:

Acts 1:16 ‘…Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus…’ AKJV

Peter remembered what Jesus told the apostles about them sitting on thrones alongside Jesus where they would rule over the twelve tribes of Israel.

Matthew 19:28 ‘…And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel…’ AKJV

Peter didn’t want to miss out on this opportunity. Peter also knew since Judas hung himself after turning Jesus in, there were now only eleven remaining apostles and Peter didn’t want to miss this opportunity to be a judge.

Peter knew there needed to be twelve since there were twelve tribes, so he began the discussion of needing a replacement apostle to take Judas’ spot.

Up to this point, all of the apostles were handpicked by Jesus Himself, but Jesus was gone so Peter took it upon himself, the other remaining ten apostles and 120 other people to pick out a replacement for Judas.

Is this why Jesus abandoned the twelve?

These remaining apostles, ‘THEY’ were going to  find a replacement by themselves … ‘THEY’ were only going to spread the message that ‘THEY’ wanted to spread, where ‘THEY’ wanted to go …

But the straw that broke the camel’s back was when Stephen was stoned to death by the Sanhedrin in Acts 7.

Acts 7

vs59 ‘…And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit…’

vs60 ‘…And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep…’ AKJV

God made an abrupt change in biblical history. God no longer only focused on His Chosen people to carry on His Message, God CHOSE to save the Gentiles.

God did this to make His Chosen jealous. God never told us that we were to replace the Jews, that we were going to take their place and collect their promises. God simply included us in Salvation.

Romans 11:11 ‘…I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy…’ AKJV

These are not words that Leon has made up in his mind, these are words that God has given us in HIS WORD.

Jesus, the Ascended Jesus Christ returned to this earth and confronted Saul of Tarsus on his way to Damascus to capture more Jewish believers (Acts 9:3-9).

God changed.

Acts 9:15, to me, is the MOST pivotable change in biblical history and the majority of mankind has missed it.

I truly believe this verse has been hidden from us by Satan himself … he doesn’t want us to be safe and with God.

Acts 9:15 ‘…But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel…’ AKJV

The entire world was to be taught by Saul of Tarsus … Jesus’ CHOSEN vessel.

Acts 13:9 ‘…Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him…’ AKJV

Just about every church this Sunday will reference the gospels, from Matthew through John. They’ll speak of Genesis and Revelation but hardly any will quote from the thirteen epistles that Paul gave us.

There are people that will say the writings of Paul should be torn out from our Bibles.

Isn’t it strange that Jesus CHOSE Paul in the book of Acts, written by Luke.

Peter (the apostle) justifies the writings by Paul.

2 Peter 3

vs15 ‘…And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you…’

vs16 ‘…as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction…’ AKJV

Are we to tear out the book of Acts and 2 Peter also?

Where is it written in the Word of God that we can pick and choose which verses we want to abide by?

Open and read your Bibles and listen to the WORDS God has given us.

2 Timothy 3:16 ‘…All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…’ AKJV

ALL Scripture has been given to us by God and it has been inspired by Him … but nowhere in the WORD are we told we should FOLLOW ALL Scripture.

2 Timothy 2:15 ‘…Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth…’ AKJV

We should read and follow the Word of God that He has CHOSEN for us to follow.

We should divide the Word of God where He shows us a change.

Keep your Bibles open and continue to study the words that God has given us in His Word.

Pray and ask God for His help when you find yourself in a struggle with what you are reading.

Let God guide you in the direction He wants for you to go.

I love ALL of y’all.
