Acts 9:5 ‘…But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel…’ AKJV
Ephesians 2:8 ‘…For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God…’ AKJV
Romans 10:9 ‘…that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved…’ AKJV
Jesus, just like how last week’s lesson was going to be difficult for some readers, this morning’s lesson might be just as hard for some to grab on to. I ask that You would walk with these individuals and comfort them in their questions and help them Father find what it is You have determined for us ALL to see. We love You Jesus. Amen.
The Bible verses we’re going to use this morning are:
Acts 9:15, 13:9; 2 Timothy 3:16, 2:15; 2 Peter 3:16.
We finished last week’s lesson with the Jewish nation on one side and the Gentile nation on the other side.
This all happened after the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
I have stated several times, I really think many in this world have lost their way because of how our Bibles have been split up by man.
I personally think the NT should begin with the book of Acts.
The book of Acts begins at the end of the OT, the synoptic gospels should all be included in the OT. Chapters 1 through 6 of Acts carry on just as if nothing has been changed.
It wasn’t until Acts 7 when the Sanhedrin stoned to death Stephen when God makes a change to the way things have been going throughout biblical history.
God is no longer focusing all of His energy onto the Jewish nation. Throughout the OT, the Jews killed God’s prophets that He sent to warn them and to show them the way He wanted them to go.
Acts 9 begins with Jesus, the Ascended Jesus returning to this earth and confronting Saul of Tarsus on his way to Damascus, to capture and return those believing Jews of the Way, back to Jerusalem to be handed over to the Orthodox Jews.
In Acts 9:15, to me, is the most pivotable verse found in the entire Word of God.
Acts 9:15 ‘…But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel…’ AKJV
Jesus made a CHOICE to choose Saul of Tarsus to be the teacher for the entire world, so we could ALL learn about God.
This verse in Acts is of the Ascended Jesus speaking to Ananias, a believing Jew living in Damascus, to go to Saul of Tarsus and baptize him so he could teach ALL the world: Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.
There is no human being left out of that above statement.
Acts 13:9 ‘…But Saul, who was also known as Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, stared at him…’ NASB
Here is a footnote found in the Amplified Bible.
Saul was the apostle Paul’s Jewish (Hebrew) name. As his ministry to Gentiles began he became known by his Roman (Latin) name, Paul.
It is from the book of Acts where mankind has lost touch with what God wants from us.
It’s like mankind has been led up to the crucifixion, burial and resurrection but then instead of continuing in God’s Word, mankind pushes the rewind button and the relives the entire three (3) years of Jesus’ ministry over and over again, never moving beyond the resurrection.
Too many churches have mislead too many believers that want to be with God when this world is over, but these churches keep the Word of God away from their congregation.
Churches will quote Scripture, but it’s only Scripture that they desire to be taught.
This is where I am going to go back to that verse I used last week and comment on it.
2 Timothy 3:16 ‘…All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness…’ AKJV
ALL Scripture has been given to us by the Inspiration of God, but nowhere in that verse are we told that all Scripture has been meant for ALL mankind to FOLLOW.
We are never shown that we were to return back to Jesus’ ministry and re-learn what He taught the Jews.
We’ve never been told we were to replace the Jewish culture and pick up their habits and take their place and attain the promise of life.
Jesus told us in Acts 9:15 that He CHOSE Paul to be our teacher to show us the things that God wants from us.
The apostle Paul wrote thirteen (13) epistles, from Romans through Philemon that are meant for us Gentiles.
It’s the ONLY part of Scripture that God has given us Gentiles, to learn from.
What is taught in man-made churches today is everything that is NOT found in the Word of God.
You can easily find this out for yourself by reading the Word of God that God has intended for your ears only.
Start in Acts 9 and continue reading.
The book of Acts was written by Luke, the same Luke that wrote the gospel.
But it is in Acts where God shows us His pivotable change, that is found nowhere else in the Bible.
As we read the writings of Paul, we will learn of false teachers and false doctrine. We can read of how God warns us of Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth.
2 Timothy 2:15 ‘…Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth…’ AKJV
This one verse taken from the AKJV helps me when I teach people about different versions of the Bible in the English language.
There are those that will claim the KJV is the ONLY version of the English Bible that should be used.
Yet, when these people will read this verse in 2 Timothy … study to shew thyself … they will instead voice … study to show yourself.
It’s a correct interpretation, but it isn’t what was originally written in the Word.
These people are emphasizing a different version of the Bible, other than the KJV.
They are doing the same thing, that the NASB, GNT, and EASY versions do in their writings of the Word of God.
There are people that will claim the thirteen (13) epistles of Paul should be torn out of our Bibles and thrown away.
So, then I have a question, since Luke writes about Paul, then should we throw away the book of Acts too?
Should we then throw away the gospel of Luke also?
When Peter writes describing the difficulty in reading Paul’s writings, but in verse 15 he describes of the ‘wisdom’ that Paul had received from Jesus … are we to rip Peters books from our Bibles too?
2 Peter 3:16 ‘…as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction…’ AKJV
Where is this verse written that is telling these people they can pick and choose whatever Scripture they want to read and believe in?
The verse in 2 Timothy tells us that ALL Scripture has been Inspired by God. Key word here is ALL.
But with that said also the reader must realize that the word FOLLOW is not in that verse.
ALL Scripture has been written for us to see and learn from, but we’re not to get hung up on words that don’t mean anything to us.
We cannot be saved by things that we’ve never been told, can save us.
When we’re shown it was Jesus BLOOD that forgave our sins, we should ask ourselves why are so many hung up on studying His life and ministry and it’s His death that we need to follow.
Jesus, this world is full of people that want to find You but Satan has polluted the churches that so many of these people go to and belong to today.
I know Your Word tells us that many will be deceived and fall by the wayside, the way Abraham questioned You … but what if twenty (20), what if fifteen (15), what if ten (10) … Jesus allow me to ask for those in this world today Father that desire to spend Eternity in Your presence.
Give them the opportunity Jesus to HEAR Your love that You have for them. Allow them to see. I love You Jesus. Amen.
I love ALL of y’all.
Open your Bibles and READ the Word of God. Go beyond what your pastor or priest teach you to read. Read the Word that God wants for to read.
I’ll be back next Wednesday.
